The downstairs reception rooms

There’s a mix of reception rooms on the ground floor from the stately Entrance Hall to the Drawing Room and Billiard Room. Essentially it’s a comfortable family house on a grand scale. All the rooms have great views and are well furnished, some with open fires and all with central heating. The Dining Room comfortably seats 20 on leather chairs along a fine oak refectory table. The Yellow Sitting Room has a television with Freeview channels, Netflix and Apple TV. There’s a CD player with a USB socket for iPads and the like, and a wide choice of music. We also have an old VHS player on hand if required.

The fully equipped kitchen has a traditional country house Aga and a choice of gas and electric hobs and ovens to please every cook! Of course, if you prefer to relax in style, we can recommend a wonderful local cook and staff to look after your party – just let us know when booking.

Old family portraits hang on the wall of the stair hall and the reception rooms have family photographs. Eggleston really is a (rather larger) home from home.

Outside Activities

There’s table football and table tennis available inside the house. Outside activities include a hard tennis court. We also have a croquet set (though not a croquet lawn) and boules. There’s a private bridge leading to ancient woodland and riverbank walks.
